When to find a Doctor
The best time is when you are healthy. Then he can learn about you. The two of you can work together to create a plan for you to improve your health and maintain a disease-free life for 100 years or more. This is the best time.
In fact, in my opinion a doctor should be paid to keep you healthy. Isn't that what a "Health Maintenance Organization" is... anyway? Keeping you healthy is what he is good for. The best kind of doctor is one who keeps you out of the hospital, away from drugs, and completely surgery free.
Also, when you are healthy you have the time to interview many doctors until you find the one you like, who you can talk to, who really cares about you. Find an open-minded doctor who doesn't smoke and is not overweight. That's my advise. Find a doctor you can partner with as an equal; even exercise with and share discoveries about health and nutritional supplements with.
Self Health Power starts in the Mind
True Self Health Power starts in ones mind. It is an attitude. Its as if your body is a ship and your mind is the captain. No matter how wonderful your karma may be, you still have to make good causes. No Matter how fantastic your DNA and your body may appear, your thinking can either enhance what you have or destroy it. Why do many talented, beautiful movie stars die so young? Why do people become addicted to drugs, doctors, clinics, and hospitals?
The answer is - "unhealthy thinking." If you think the doctor can cure you or save you, that's "unhealthy thinking." You need to make sure you never even have to go there in the first place. At least that's the ideal. Sometimes things just cannot be helped. We understand this. And sometimes a good doctor can definitely be a life saver.
But when it comes to heart disease, diabetes, and cancer; we have a say in what goes on. Our actions and our thinking have brought these degenerative diseases upon ourselves. We made the cause. So why should we be surprised at the effect. It all starts with 'unhealthy thinking' such as:
1) Its okay if I smoke, I'll stop eventually.
2) I feel that I am gaining inches in my waistline, but I'll start to exercise tomorrow.
3) I've gained a lot of weight lately, I'll just go to the doctor.
4) Life is stressful, I better go to the doctor and ask him to prescribe some drugs.
5) I don't know what to do, I better ask the doctor, he knows best. (recent history over the past 30 years proves that this is false. Even the doctors know this is false.)
Then, at even the slightest sign of a fever we go to a hospital or ask a doctor what to do. We get a cold and a fever and we call the Doctor. It as if we have become weak, invalids with no mind of our own.
Even if we go to the doctor, 44% of the time they misdiagnosis our problems. That can be very serious. Then again even if their diagnosis is correct, most of the drugs they prescribe have negative side effects. Then what's worse, they may err in their choice of treatment, or suggest that we be confined (sounds ominous doesn't it) to the hospital. Then we are at the mercy of negligence, infections, bad food, inadequate care or attention, mixing of drugs, overdose, etc.
Worst of all we loose control over our own health. Its as if we are being punished for a crime. We have lost our freedom. We cannot get up and leave when we want because of some silly regulation, accounting error on our bill, procedures, doctors orders, etc.
My suggestion is only go there if it is really necessary. Be careful, ask lots and lots of questions, and think first about your health. Study your body, health and nutrition, and have a positive attitude. You need to be like a Hercules or a gladiator - mentally speaking - so as to not be influenced negatively by their silly requests, just to pad the bill, etc. Actually, what really and truly do doctors know anyway? Think about that. And never be afraid of disagreeing with them. Most of the time you know better than they do anyway.

What is true Health? Weight, exercise, diet, nutrition, sleep, Nutritional supplements, freedom from stress, awareness, self-realization, long term fulfillment, depth of character; these are some of the components of True Health. Your body, mind and your soul are not three separate things. They are three ways of viewing one thing. And that thing is "Life." That is what you have and what you need to take care of; namely: your Life... past, present, and future. Did you know that with the present moment you can change the future and the past?
Buddhism teaches that we have karma - which is a collection of causes we made in the past and their resulting effects. Some of these effects have already taken place, and some have not. Some will occur in the future, when the environmental conditions are right to trigger the effects. Until then these effects, either pleasing or negative remain dormant.
For example, let's say you are destined to win the lottery in 2020. I guess you will have to wait. But there is a way to speed up this pleasing event. Also what if you are destined to be in a very serious auto accident next year? Can you delay it for 20 years? Yes. Can you elminate this horrible event from your future all together? Yes.
How can you do that? Great question. You need to change your karma. Assuming the negative event comes from a negative cause, you can change it by making very good, positive powerful causes today, in the present moment.
But what is a good cause or a bad cause. There are all types and levels of good and bad. Stealing a pack of gum at the store is a bad cause. Stealing a car is worse. Kidnapping is much worse, etc. However, outside the secular realm of classifying good causes and bad causes is the realm of the Mystic Law of the Universe, which is Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
At this deeper level is the notion of eternity. For example, destroying ones' hope for a better life is a greater bad than stealing someones' car. If you steal my car, I will be insanely angry. But, I have insurance, and even if I don't, I can get a second job, save money, and buy another car. But if you destroy my hope, I may become a drug addict, leave my wife and kids, become homeless or even attempt suicide. It is obviously much worse.
Hope for a better life is basic. Following ones dream is basic. Trying to invent something new that will help millions is basic. When you destroy a persons desire or hope of doing thoses things you are making a very bad cause. The result is much worse that just stealing a car. If you steal a car you will go to prison for 10 years. In light of eternity, however, .... for example, if you destroy someones hope, in your next 10 future lifetimes you may be born, ugly, sick, and poor. This is just a hypothetical example to make a point.
The point is... if you want to really change your karma, you need to make a significant over-riding good cause - not just one but many of them. Then you can definitely change your negative karma. You can change poison into medicine.
Then, in addition to all the other things I discussed in the beginning, you can have True Health.

It's time for a ....HEALTHCARE REVOLUTION
People ask me, if I am a Guru. My response is that I am a 'revolutionary,' because of my approach and my ideas. They say that "necessity is the mother of invention," and problems are really just opportunties in disguise. I agree.
First of all, I am a Buddhist. Therefore, I cherish and respect all life, especially human life. Since our body is the source of our life, obviously I respect my body. Without it I could not live. Nichiren Daishonin, the Buddha of this time period, stated that "the body is the palace of the ninth consciousness." He also stated that "one single day of life is more valuable than all the treasures in the galactic universe." Once again, I agree.
Therefore, health is extremely important to me. In fact, I believe that my health is my responsibility. It's not some doctor's responsibility to keep me healthy or cure any disease I get. Its up to me. I can take care of it myself... most of the time.
Why? Because I study, I read, I think. Do I want to be in a wheel chair? Do I want to be drugged to the point I can't eat or walk to the bathroom myself? No way. Do I ever intend that this will happen to me? I sincerely hope not.
So I try to eat a balanced diet, with raw fruits and vegetables, whole grain or low gylcemic foods, and protein. I try to chew my food well. I pay attention. Of course I am far from perfect, but I care. I am concerned. And I have noticed that the doctors I have met and dealt with know very little about health. Some of them smoke, many are overweight, and some are obese. Most are closed minded, and uneducated about Indian, Chinese and Herbal medicine. They tend to be extremely narrow-minded and archaic in their thinking. Not all, but many......
Since our body is made up of 50 - 100 trillion cells, it is obviously wise to know about cellular nutrition. We all need to be aware of the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that cells need. That's why we need to study. Since most of the food in the market is highly processed, and filled with all kinds of preservatives, pesticides, chemicals, etc... it is extremely unwise to continue to buy it, eat it and feed it to our children. Are we sheep? Are we sleep walking? Are we deaf and blind?
What about smoking? It has been proven that cigarette smoking causes lung cancer. Maybe not 100% of the time but at least 50%. So why would you smoke? Did you throw your brain in the trash can on the way to work? What kind of a rationalization have you made? And now you are a doctor, or a nurse.... and you are obese and you smoke? Do you think I would allow you to take my blood, or prescribe a drug or do surgery on me? No way. Do you think I am a moron?
So now we have a health care crisis. Americans, and others cannot afford to pay their medical bills. Its simple. TEACH THEM HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES AND THEY WON'T HAVE ANY MEDICAL BILLS.
The first thing a child should learn is that they have a body..... a wondrous, complex organism that is infinitely capable, if you take care of it. Be careful, chew your food, eat what's healthy, drink mineral water and make sure you are hydrated, get enough sleep, like eight hours a day.... exercise regularly, don't smoke, etc.
THAT'S IT. If you do those things and take high quality nutritional supplements, according to your specific age and set of needs, most people won't have 'Medical Bills.' Most people won't get cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Imagine if the 285 million people that have diabetes today could reverse it. Wouldn't that be great? Guess what.... it's completely reversible. Though doctors and health care personnel might not tell you that, .... its true. Most diseases are man-made. They are degenerative diseases caused by our own lack or awareness, guts and determination. We are killing ourselves, no one else is doing it.
So I believe we need to start a Healthcare Revolution.
First, it should start in kindergarten and grade school. Let's teach children how and what to eat. Before they learn to ride a bike or do their ABC's; teach them what is good for their bodies, and what is not.
Second, let's completely revamp all the medical schools and hospitals in the USA and the World. Let's put the 'primary' focus on health not on disease. Let's focus or prevention, not diagnosis, treatment and cure. I mean lets re-write the textbooks for college and medical school. The old way is no good. Its time for a change. That way we can save trillions of dollars in wasted medical costs, and all live healthier and happier lives.
Third, lets pass laws that all restaurants must provide healthy fresh, raw, organic foods on their menu, or pay a penalty. All business must provide exercise time, like at least 20 minutes a day, to walk or stretch, etc. If we can send a man to the moon, we can do it. If we can make cell phones that talk to you, we can do it. First things first. Let's take care of this amazing, miraculous body of ours.
That's just my idea for improving our quality of life.

Exercise with Sun and Water, but wear SunBlock
Have fun in the Sun, but be careful. Its also good to wear protective clothing in the ocean during the day time. The reflection of the sun against the water in the ocean and the water on your skin is a recipe for severe sunburn. Try to cover all parts of the body you can, within reason, and take care,
